Strawberry Picking Season has Arrived
June 25, 2018 01:16 PM
Summer is finally here, and in Maine, that means it’s strawberry picking season! Did you know strawberries are full of vitamins and minerals such as fiber, potassium, magnesium, and vitamins C and K? Just one serving of strawberries (about 8) provides you with more Vitamin C than an orange! Plus, they are rich in antioxidants, and yummy, making them a perfect snack.
The health benefits are great and strawberries should be enjoyed year-round, but in the summertime, they seem to taste even better when you hand-pick them yourselves. This is an activity that the whole family can enjoy; it gets you outside, you can enjoy fresh berries along the way, and to add a little competition, try seeing who can fill up their carton the fastest or who finds the best strawberries!
