Critical Care

Spectrum Medical Group critical care physicians collaborate with other specialists on the intensive care unit (ICU) critical care team to manage all aspects of the ICU patient’s care. As physicians who are board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in both critical care and anesthesiology, we are uniquely trained to manage the needs of the critically ill patient in the ICU.

Critical care physicians are responsible for the overall well being of the ICU patient.  We manage complex cardiopulmonary conditions including mechanical ventilation and invasive monitoring of cardiac function. In addition we care for the patient’s fluid and nutrition requirements, infectious disease issues, and sedation and analgesic needs. We maintain communication with the patient’s family members throughout the patient’s course. As the patient’s health and stability improve, we work with the rehabilitation medicine team to transition the patient to a recovery program following his or her intensive care stay.
