Chaput and Qualman Join Spectrum Leadership

South Portland, Maine (October 25, 2017) – Spectrum Healthcare Partners has announced the addition of two new leaders to their organization: Mark Chaput as Executive Director of Clinical Services and Ken Qualman as Senior Director of Hospital Services.  Qualman joined the physician-owned, multispecialty practice in late August and Chaput in early September.

David Landry, Spectrum CEO, said “Both Mark and Ken have extensive backgrounds in healthcare leadership. They each bring a wealth of knowledge in their respective areas, diverse experience and palpable enthusiasm to our organization”. Chaput joins Spectrum after having most recently served as the Vice President for the Orthopaedic / Musculoskeletal Service Line at Anne Arundel Health System in Annapolis, Maryland. Qualman comes from Western Nephrology, a 26 physician private practice based out of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, where he served as Chief Executive Officer.

As Executive Director of Clinical Services, Chaput will oversee Spectrum’s orthopaedic practices: OA Centers for Orthopaedics, Central Maine Orthopaedics, and Falmouth Orthopaedic Center, as well as any other future clinical advances. “Spectrum Healthcare Partners offered a unique opportunity within a growing organization in my home state of Maine,” Chaput said. “Spectrum brings together some of Maine’s brightest physicians and surgeons and puts great emphasis on delivering high-quality patient care and empowering employees at every level. I’m excited to see what the future will hold for us.” Chaput started his career as a physical therapist and over time found himself in leadership roles within healthcare.  He holds a degree in Physical Therapy from the University of New England, as well as a degree in Zoology from the University of Maine, Orono.

Qualman earned his MBA from the University of Houston and is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin with a degree in Business Administration Accounting. As Senior Director of Hospital Services, Qualman will work closely with Spectrum’s many hospital partners primarily focused on the organization’s anesthesia services. “The model of Spectrum is quite remarkable,” Qualman said. “Our anesthesiologists provide care to the hospitals’ patients in the operating room while lowering costs for the hospitals by remaining independent, I’m looking forward to building upon these valued partnerships across Southern Maine.” Spectrum deploys over 100 anesthesiologists to hospital partners across Maine and northern New Hampshire.
